Our Services

Regular Examinations, Prophy Cleanings, Fluoride Treatments, Sealants

Here at ArkLaTex Family Dental Center we believe in providing preventative dental care to all of our patients. We strive to begin a preventative regimen as early in life as possible. Teaching our patients, young and old alike, how to brush and floss their teeth regularly is a top priority. After all, few things are as satisfying as visiting our office and discovering that your teeth are in great shape!

No matter how healthy you are it is very important to have regular examinations. In order to help our patients stay healthy we offer regular examinations as well as fluoride treatments to help strengthen teeth and sealants to fill in deep grooves and pits in the enamel. These sealants help prevent tooth decay. A Prophy cleaning is designed to preserve health and prevent the spread of tooth decay and disease by polishing the tooth surfaces to make it more difficult for cavity causing plaque, debris and stains to stick to your teeth.

Fillings, Chrome Crowns, Bridges and Dentures

While undergoing a regular examination, sometimes cavities are discovered. Fillings are needed to fill holes or to stop the cavity process caused by tooth decay or tooth wear. If a tooth is seriously weakened or broken down a crown is put in place. A crown covers the entire tooth in order to strengthen it and give it a pleasing look. Bridges are a series of two or more crowns that are attached together to replace missing teeth. Dentures, like crowns, are used to replace missing teeth. Dentures can either be complete, replacing all the missing teeth of an arch, or partial, replacing several missing teeth.

Endodontic therapy (root canal)

Endodontic therapy, often called a root canal, generally involves the removal and replacement of a tooth's pulp. The pulp is soft tissue within the tooth that contains blood vessels, nerves, and connective tissue. If the pulp becomes damaged through an injury or disease and cannot repair itself bacteria can leak into the pulp and cause it to die. If endodontic therapy (root canal) is not performed, painful abscesses can form at the tip of the root. Even if there is no pain in the tooth the bone anchoring the tooth in the jaw can be damaged. Without treatment, the tooth may need to be extracted.

Extractions

Sometimes a tooth is so badly damaged from decay or an injury that it must be removed. This procedure is called an extraction. While the thought of having a tooth extracted may sound unpleasant, our patients can be confident that our dentists hold themselves to the highest degree of professionalism and strive to make all procedures as comfortable as possible.

Space Maintainers

Primary teeth, also known as baby teeth, aren't just for chewing. They serve as guides for a child's permanent teeth as well. If a child loses one of their primary teeth too early space maintainers may be needed to serve as a guide for their permanent teeth. Space maintainers keep the space where the primary tooth was open until the permanent tooth comes in.
